How To Become a PC Technician
April 6, 2008
So would you like to become a pc or computer technician? The first step to become one is a “will”.
Before anything else, you should be sure that you wanted to be a professional pc technician. Having this mindset will push your career up because everything that you need to learn or know will follow without trying.
Okay, let us say you have this first requirement, so what will be the next? Here are some tips that you may want to incorporate into your future career as a pc technician.
- Certificates. Many says that having certificates will help you. Yes it do, but having the correct knowledge will be the best asset. I can still remember that I wanted to learn UNIX and LINUX because I want and not because I need it. After few years, I saw myself studying for another skills again without knowing whether I would need it but I know that it would help.
- Enthusiasm. Learning to talk to your customer is another skill that you need to learn. Even you are f*cking tired don’t show that you are not in the mood to solve their computer errors.
- Mindset. This one is critical. Before going to the site, you should have a positive mindset that you can solve any computer problems that you may encounter. If you encountered an error for the first time, relax, it may take time to troubleshoot but you know you can solve it. If you can’t really solve, I doubt you can’t, don’t hesitate to call for help.:D
- Asking questions. Don’t be a f*cking professional guesser. Ask the client on what, when, hows, regarding the error encountered. It really helps and saves time compared to guessing.
- Tools. Having a set of tools at your disposal is one of the most important things that you have in your minibag. So what are the basic tools that you should have at your disposal?
- Operating System CDs
- Antivirus - I use free AVG.
- Antispyware - Use the free Ad-aware free anti spyware.
- Screwdrivers - It’s a must. =))
- External Hard drive
- Other softwares that you think that will help you to solve the errors.
- The list go on….
Just follow all these basic steps and you’re on the way to become a pro. You don’t have to hurry because your experiences will teach you the most.

Since you love computers, I think its more than enough to start a computer course. Just make sure to update yourself continuously if you want to take a career path in IT or to become a computer technician.
Keep up the good work.
